Take for instance silent disco connoisseur Ryan Dowd of Silent Events Inc., a cutting-edge production company specializing in silent discos and other wireless headphone systems, such as Friday night’s gig. The Georgia native was called on by the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in 2005 to help implement a silent disco – something the annual event scoured the planet for, in search of a new feature to enhance the experience and also as a late-night attraction minus the ruckus.

“It was really well received,” Dowd said “At first it seemed to be brought in for a late-night alternative, meaning if campers wanted to go to sleep, they could without bass in the background.

“It was such a huge success, they (Bonnaroo) kept the silent disco on,” he said.
