Kentucky paper speaks with Silent Events owner ahead of silent disco

Silent Events will return to Cosmic Charlie’s in Lexington, KY for a silent disco tomorrow night – Friday, September 14 – featuring John the Baptist, Booty Sweat, Carl Calm, and Ellie Herring.

Ahead of the festivities, Lexgo, the entertainment arm of the Lexington Herald-Ledger, caught up with Silent Events owner Ryan Dowd to discuss what people can expect tomorrow night as well as the spread and future of the silent disco concept.

Dowd said that no matter the nature of Silent Events, the success of silent discos is at a crossroads where technology, the popularity of dance music and a generation of listeners are converging.

“I don’t think it’s even 30 percent of what it will be one day,” Dowd said. “I think the possibilities are endless.”
