Bonnaroo silent disco recap
The silent disco at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival continues to grow in both size and stature, establishing itself as, USA Today proclaimed, one of “seven reasons why you’ll wish you were there”.
Rolling Stone included the two DJ Logic sets in its preview of “must-sees and secret treasures for five types of fans”.
CraveOnline tabbed the silent disco as one of the festival’s events that is “bound to bring an endless stream of fun outside the beaten path of the standard festival fare”.
The secret is certainly out, and this year’s silent disco did not disappoint.
With the Middle Tennessee dust finally starting to settled, we wanted to look back at this year’s Bonnaroo silent disco and recap some of the sights and sounds.
Thursday afternoon’s double rainbow proved to be an early sign that once the festival started the weather would be much more kind that in years past.

Our old friend DJ Logic helped get the party started on Thursday.

The Thursday night crowd was rowdy for DJ Equal, and the lines were frequently one-in one-out.

The final two sets of the weekend belonged to Jonathan Toubin, who provided the crowd with a distinct change of pace with his spinning of 45s of classic R&B, soul, and doo wop.

Following the festival, the photos and accolades quickly began to roll in. Rolling Stone listed DJ Logic as one of the “45 best things we saw at Bonnaroo 2014“. The Quickie Mart set from Thursday was mentioned in Billboard’s “20 hot Bonnaroo moments from Day 1“. Saturday’s silent disco also got a shout out in Billboard’s list of “20 hot Bonnaroo moments from Day 3“. JamBase’s Bonnaroo review gave a tip of the hat the silent disco. A writer for the Toledo City Paper said that the silent disco is one of the things that keeps him looking forward to Bonnaroo year round. And check out number 26 on BuzzFeed’s list of “33 things that only Bonnaroovians will understand“. The Tennessean posted pictures from Friday and Saturday at Bonnaroo, and each album contained images from the silent disco. Billboard also included an image from DJ Equal’s set in its collection of pictures from the festival. And, of course, the fans let us know what they thought.

Although the 2014 edition of Bonnaroo is still fresh on our minds, we can’t help but be excited for 2015 as it will mark the 10th year that Silent Events has produced the festival’s silent disco. We have been honored to be a part of such an awesome and ever-growing piece of the Bonnaroo puzzle, and we can’t wait to see what number 10 has in store next June!
