What is one thing you won’t find at the University of Silent Disco^SM?

Spring break.

Instead of packing bathing suits and tank tops come spring, we pack our gear and get to work.

The University of Silent Disco (USD) will be hitting the road in April for its 2013 Spring Tour. The silent revolution will hit campuses in Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky and Virginia, including eight first-time stops and three return visits. Among the events we will be taking part in are the Vanderbilt University Rites of Spring Music Festival and the Tusculum College Old Oak Festival.

And having previously visited more than 30 college campuses, USD has a wealth of experience delivering high quality silent events to student bodies across the United States.

Without the headphones, the only sound that can be heard is the faint rumble of bass and the laughter of participants, making the event a unique and comical sight.

“It’s interesting to watch everyone flailing around,” laughed Dylan Purvis, art freshman. “It’s entertaining.”

Purvis, along with several of his friends, stayed around the outside rim of the tent, dancing and hula-hooping with light-up, flashing hoops to the beat.

“It’s funny to think about whether the people around you are listening to the same music,” said Taylor Simon, philosophy and economics freshman. “It’s fun without the volume.”
