Seeking to capitalize on recent global attention that London has garnered from events such as the 2012 Summer Olympics, British Airways and Visit Britain held a two-day event in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood two weeks ago to promote tourism to Britain.

The Big British Invite hit NYC and brought with it the some of the best that the British have to offer in food, music, and even manicures. Famous Brits such as Downtown Abbey star Dan Stevens and singer Estelle were on hand to encourage the more than 1,000 in attendance to make the trek across the Atlantic and discover what makes Britain a desirable destination.

Among the highlights was the silent disco powered by Silent Events. As told in USA Today’s recap of the event’s sneak preview two days before opening:

For music lovers, there was a Silent Disco Rave. Participants got headphones with tunes curated by British DJs and danced in a dark room with a video screen. Next to that was an installation from Glasgow concert venue King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, where British bands such as The Killers, Radiohead and Oasis have performed. Participants donned headphones to listen to tunes by British artists.
